Eating Low Carb or No Carb at All for Diabetes Diet

The ongoing question when one is arranging the menu for his her diabetic diets is whether or whether or not he or she should spare the menu form the carbohydrate intake. In one hand, this may result on better control upon the blood glucose level, but in the other hand, it may cause them to get exhausted faster because of lacking of calories intake.



The very best thing is addressing the question to your dietitian. Another thing that you can do is looking for information from your colleagues or the internet upon inserting carbohydrates in your diabetes diet menu. Basically, it is not about avoiding any carbohydrates at all, but choosing smartly the source of carbohydrates that contains low sugar and more fiber. It is better that you choose the complex carbohydrates food, so that the carbs will be absorbed slowly during your metabolism system. This is useful to avoid the rapid increase of your blood sugar level.

You can choose the complex carbohydrates food for your diabetes diet such as vegetables, legumes, and whole grain. You can choose the whole grain brown rice instead of the white one, and choose the steel cut or rolled oats instead of the processed cereals or instant oat meals. You can also choose the whole grain bread instead of white bread, and a bran muffin instead of croissant or pastry. You can vegetables as the largest portion of your menu, combine with protein, fat, and sugar to avoid the high increase of blood sugar level on your diabetes diet.
